INTERNET SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS
High-Speed Internet Set-up for Windows 2000
- Right click on 'My Network Places' and select 'properties'.
- Click on 'Add Network Components'.
- Place a check mark in all three available components (if not already done so) and click on 'Next', follow the instructions to add the
components.
- Double click on 'My Network Places'.
- Double click on 'Local Area Connection'. If the 'icon' is not present,
click on 'Network and Dial-Up Connections' and then click on 'Local
Area Connections'.
- Click on 'Properties'.
- Click on or highlight 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'.
- Click on 'Properties'.
- Click on 'Use the Following IP Addresses'.
- Enter the IP address assigned to you by your DSL provider.
- Enter the Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0
- Enter the Default Gateway assigned to you by your DSL provider.
- Click on 'Use the Following DNS Server Addresses'.
- Enter the Preferred DNS Address: 208.38.65.37
- Enter the Alternate DNS Address: 208.38.65.35
- After you have restarted your computer open your Internet browser.
- In 'Internet Explorer', select 'Tools' and select 'Options'.
- Under the 'Connections' tab, click on the option to 'Never Dial a
Connection' or 'Dial Whenever a Network Connection is Not
Present'.
