INTERNET SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS

High-Speed Internet Set-up for Windows 2000

  1. Right click on 'My Network Places' and select 'properties'.
  2. Click on 'Add Network Components'.
  3. Place a check mark in all three available components (if not already done so) and click on 'Next', follow the instructions to add the components.
  4. Double click on 'My Network Places'.
  5. Double click on 'Local Area Connection'. If the 'icon' is not present, click on 'Network and Dial-Up Connections' and then click on 'Local Area Connections'.
  6. Click on 'Properties'.
  7. Click on or highlight 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'.
  8. Click on 'Properties'.
  9. Click on 'Use the Following IP Addresses'.
  10. Enter the IP address assigned to you by your DSL provider.
  11. Enter the Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0
  12. Enter the Default Gateway assigned to you by your DSL provider.
  13. Click on 'Use the Following DNS Server Addresses'.
  14. Enter the Preferred DNS Address: 208.38.65.37
  15. Enter the Alternate DNS Address: 208.38.65.35
  16. After you have restarted your computer open your Internet browser.
  17. In 'Internet Explorer', select 'Tools' and select 'Options'.
  18. Under the 'Connections' tab, click on the option to 'Never Dial a Connection' or 'Dial Whenever a Network Connection is Not Present'.
