Call Forwarding
Thank you for
choosing the Call Forwarding feature. Below are the features and
instructions to use Call Forwarding.
Call Forwarding
allows calls to your line to be redirected to another line, whether
your line is idle or busy. Call Forwarding can increase the ease
of mobility, but it can also provide security because calls forwarded
to another answering line will give the notion that someone is home.
Call Forwarding has two enhancement features: a reactivation enhancement
feature, and a fixed address enhancement feature. The only difference
between the two features is that the reactivation feature allows
you to modify the forward-to number, but the fixed address feature
does not.
To use
Reactivation Call Forwarding:
- Lift the handset
and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial the Call
Forwarding activation code *72.
- After dialing
the activation code, you will receive a dial tone.
- Dial the number
to which calls are to be forwarded.
- The system
then attempts to complete a "courtesy call" to the designated
number. If someone answers at that number, activation is complete.
If the system receives a busy or non-answered signal, then the
designated number is stored for a two-minute period. A second attempt
will then be made.
- You will hear
a confirmation tone after a successful activation.
To use
Fixed Address Call Forwarding:
- Before using
this feature for the first time, you must contact NorthStar Access
and give them a valid forward-to telephone number. Contacting them
thereafter will only be to change your forward-to number.
- To activate
Call Forwarding dial *72.
To deactivate
either Call Forwarding feature:
- Lift the handset
and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial *73.
- A confirmation
tone is returned to let you know that deactivation has been completed.
Feature
Considerations:
- Calls forwarded
to a long distance telephone number will be charged to you.
- An 800 number
can be used as a forward-to number.
